Description

Berry Croissant Bake is a delightful breakfast casserole featuring flaky, already baked croissants combined with fresh mixed berries and a creamy custard base. This easy-to-make dish is perfect for brunch or a special breakfast treat, offering a sweet and satisfying blend of fresh fruit, rich cream cheese, and fluffy baked croissant pieces.

Ingredients

Scale

Croissant and Berries

  • 4 large croissants, broken into small pieces (use already baked croissants)
  • 1 cup sliced strawberries
  • ½ cup blueberries
  • ½ cup raspberries

Cream Cheese Custard

  • 1 block (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Dish: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Spray a 9 x 9-inch baking dish with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Arrange Croissants and Berries: Spread the broken croissant pieces evenly in the prepared baking dish. Evenly distribute the sliced strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries over the croissant pieces.
  3. Make Cream Cheese Mixture: Using an electric mixer, beat the softened cream cheese until fluffy. Gradually add the granulated sugar, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract, mixing continuously until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  4. Combine and Refrigerate: Pour the cream cheese custard mixture over the croissants and berries evenly. Cover the baking dish and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes, or up to 14 hours to allow flavors to meld and the custard to soak in.
  5. Bake the Dish: Remove the cover and bake in the preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set.
  6. Serve: Serve the berry croissant bake warm. Optionally dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with syrup for extra sweetness. Enjoy your comforting and fruity breakfast bake!

Notes

  • Use already baked croissants rather than raw dough for the best texture and flavor.
  • Feel free to substitute or add other berries like blackberries or cherries.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated and warmed up the next day for a quick breakfast.
  • For a richer taste, use whole milk or half-and-half instead of regular milk.
  • This dish can be prepped the night before to save time in the morning.
