Instructions
- Prep Salad Ingredients: Chop all your salad components including romaine lettuce, salami, cubed Provolone cheese, grated Parmesan, sliced pepperoncini, and thinly sliced red onion; set aside in a large bowl.
- Make Golden Crispy Garlic Panko: In a microwave-safe bowl, mix panko breadcrumbs with garlic powder and 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Microwave on high for 1 minute, stir well, then microwave again for 20-40 seconds until the panko turns a nice golden brown. Be careful as it will be hot. Once done, season with salt to taste.
- Prepare the Dressing and Toss Salad: Drizzle the salad mixture with 3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil, add 1-2 tablespoons of pepperoncini brine, sprinkle Italian seasoning, and season with salt and pepper. Toss everything gently to combine all flavors thoroughly.
- Finish with Garlic Panko: Add the golden crispy garlic panko topping to the salad and toss again gently to distribute the crispy panko evenly throughout. Serve immediately for the best texture.
Notes
- Adjust the amount of pepperoncini brine to control the salad’s tanginess.
- You can substitute salami with other cured meats like pepperoni or capicola for variety.
- Make the garlic panko topping fresh to keep it crispy and flavorful.
- Use freshly grated Parmesan cheese for the best taste.
- This salad is best served immediately after tossing to enjoy the crisp textures.
