Description

A delicious and comforting Burger Bowls recipe featuring crispy seasoned potatoes, flavorful spiced ground beef, fresh shredded lettuce, cheese, pickles, and a tangy homemade burger sauce. This recipe combines the classic taste of a burger in a bowl form, perfect for a quick and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Spice Mix

  • 1 ½ teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano or mixed herbs
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Potatoes

  • 2-3 medium potatoes
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for potatoes)

Beef

  • 500 grams lean beef mince/ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking beef)
  • Half of the spice mix (from above, reserved for beef)

Other Bowl Ingredients

  • Lettuce (shredded)
  • Cheese (dairy-free or regular, as preferred)
  • Pickle slices

Burger Sauce

  • 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon mustard (Dijon or yellow)
  • 1 teaspoon pickle juice (from the jar of pickles)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika

Instructions

  1. Prepare the spice mix: In a small bowl, combine smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano or mixed herbs, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and set aside.
  2. Prep potatoes: Wash and cut the potatoes into chip-sized pieces. Pat them dry using paper towels to remove excess moisture, ensuring they will bake up crispy.
  3. Season and cook potatoes: Place the potato chips in a large mixing bowl. Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and half of the prepared spice mix. Toss thoroughly to coat all potatoes evenly. Arrange the seasoned potatoes in a single layer on a baking tray and bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (390°F) for 30 to 40 minutes, turning halfway through, until golden and crispy. Alternatively, you can air fry the potatoes for about 20 minutes until crispy.
  4. Cook the beef: While the potatoes are cooking, heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a frying pan over high heat. Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon for even cooking. Once the beef is browned, sprinkle in the remaining half of the spice mix. Continue cooking until the beef darkens and any moisture evaporates, resulting in a well-cooked, flavorful mince.
  5. Make the burger sauce: In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, pickle juice, garlic powder, and smoked paprika. Stir well, taste, and adjust the seasoning as desired.
  6. Assemble the bowls: Divide the cooked crispy potatoes among serving bowls. Add shredded lettuce to fill the remaining space in each bowl. Top with the cooked spiced ground beef, cheese slices or shreds (dairy-free or regular), and pickle slices. Drizzle the prepared burger sauce over the top. Serve immediately while warm and enjoy your burger-inspired bowl.

Notes

  • You can substitute potatoes with sweet potatoes for a different flavor.
  • Use dairy-free cheese and mayonnaise to make this recipe vegan-friendly.
  • Adjust the spice mix quantities to your preferred heat level.
  • Air frying the potatoes is a faster alternative to baking and produces crispy results.
  • Store leftover components separately to maintain freshness.
