Description

Candied Puff Corn, also known as Christmas Crack, is a festive and easy-to-make sweet snack that features crunchy puff corn coated in a smooth vanilla candy coating and topped with colorful sprinkles. Perfect for holiday parties or a fun treat any time of year, this recipe is quick to prepare and yields a delightful, crispy confection.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 2 (3.25-ounce) bags butter flavored puff corn (such as Chester’s Puffcorn)
  • 1 (16-ounce) box vanilla flavored candy coating
  • Sprinkles, for decorating (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Puff Corn: Place the puff corn into a very large pan or bowl to ensure there is enough space to coat it evenly.
  2. Prepare Work Surface: Spread two large sheets of wax paper out onto the counter for spreading the coated puff corn later.
  3. Melt Candy Coating: Melt the vanilla flavored candy coating in the microwave following the package instructions, stirring occasionally until smooth.
  4. Coat Puff Corn: Drizzle the melted candy coating evenly over the puff corn. Quickly stir with a spatula or spoon to thoroughly coat all the pieces before the coating sets.
  5. Spread & Decorate: Transfer the coated puff corn onto the prepared wax paper. Spread it out into a single, even layer to cool and harden. Add colorful sprinkles on top if desired for a festive touch.
  6. Cool & Store: Allow the coated puff corn to cool completely at room temperature until set. Store the finished candied puff corn in an airtight container for up to one week to maintain freshness.

Notes

  • Use a large bowl or pan to give yourself plenty of room to mix the coating with the puff corn.
  • Work quickly when coating the puff corn to prevent the candy coating from hardening prematurely.
  • Wax paper prevents sticking and makes spreading the coated puff corn easier.
  • Sprinkles are optional but add a festive holiday look.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 7 days.
  • For sturdier candy coating, use good-quality vanilla candy melts or white chocolate coating.
