Description

This decadent Chocolate Toffee Trifle combines layers of rich chocolate cake, luscious caramel and sweetened condensed milk, fluffy whipped cream, and crunchy toffee bits. Perfect for parties or special occasions, this no-bake layered dessert is easy to assemble and sure to impress with its creamy textures and indulgent flavors.

Ingredients

Scale

Cake Layer

  • 1 pan chocolate cake (9×13-inch), baked and cooled

Sauces and Fillings

  • 14 oz sweetened condensed milk
  • 12 oz caramel sauce
  • 1 cup chocolate fudge sauce

Whipped Cream

  • 2 cups cold heavy whipping cream
  • 0.5 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Toppings

  • 6 Heath or Skor bars, chopped

Instructions

  1. Prepare whipped cream: In a cold mixing bowl, beat the cold heavy whipping cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form. Place it back in the fridge to chill until ready to use.
  2. Break the cake: Cut or break the baked and cooled chocolate cake into small chunks or cubes suitable for layering.
  3. First layer: In a trifle dish, add one-third of the cake chunks at the bottom. Drizzle evenly with one-third of the sweetened condensed milk and one-third of the caramel sauce.
  4. Add whipped cream and fudge: Spread a generous layer of the prepared whipped cream over the cake and then drizzle chocolate fudge sauce on top.
  5. Repeat layering: Repeat the cake, sweetened condensed milk, caramel, whipped cream, and fudge layers two more times with the remaining ingredients.
  6. Top and garnish: For the final layer, top with whipped cream and evenly sprinkle the chopped Heath or Skor bars over the top. Add additional fudge sauce if desired for extra richness.
  7. Chill and serve: Refrigerate the assembled trifle for at least 2 hours before serving to allow flavors to meld and for the dessert to set properly.

Notes

  • Make sure the heavy cream and bowl are cold for best whipping results.
  • Use good quality caramel and fudge sauces for optimum flavor.
  • The trifle can be assembled a day ahead and refrigerated overnight.
  • Substitute toffee bar topping with chopped nuts for a different crunch.
  • For easier serving, use individual glass cups instead of one large trifle dish.
