Ingredients
Scale
Cinnamon Rolls
- 2 cans refrigerated cinnamon rolls with icing
Custard Mixture
- 6 large eggs
- 0.5 cup milk
- 0.5 cup heavy cream
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 0.25 cup maple syrup
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Dish: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
- Prepare Cinnamon Rolls: Open the cinnamon roll tubes and cut each roll into quarters. Arrange the cinnamon roll pieces evenly in the greased baking dish to form the base layer.
- Mix Custard: In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, ground cinnamon, vanilla extract, and maple syrup until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
- Combine Ingredients: Pour the custard mixture evenly over the cinnamon roll pieces in the baking dish. Press gently on the pieces to help them soak up the custard mixture thoroughly.
- Rest: Let the casserole sit and rest for 10 minutes, allowing the cinnamon rolls to absorb the custard for a richer texture.
- Bake Covered: Cover the baking dish with foil to prevent the top from browning too quickly and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
- Bake Uncovered: Remove the foil and continue baking for another 10–15 minutes, or until the casserole is golden brown on top and set in the middle.
- Cool and Serve: Let the casserole cool for 5 minutes before drizzling the included icing over the top. Serve warm for a delicious breakfast treat.
Notes
- You can prepare this casserole the night before; assemble, cover, and refrigerate overnight, then bake in the morning.
- For extra flavor, sprinkle chopped nuts like pecans or walnuts on top before baking.
- If you prefer a lighter version, substitute half-and-half for heavy cream or reduce the maple syrup amount.
- Make sure to cut cinnamon rolls into quarters so they soak better and bake evenly.
- Use fresh or canned cinnamon rolls according to your preference and availability.
