Ingredients
Scale
Milk Tea Base
- 2 tablespoons Toasted Black Sesame Seeds (toast until golden brown)
- 2 cups Milk or plant-based alternative (almond or oat milk recommended)
- Sweetener to taste (honey, agave, or sugar alternative; optional)
Additional Ingredients
- 1 cup Sweetened Red Beans (canned, rinsed, and drained)
Instructions
- Toast the Black Sesame Seeds: Preheat a skillet over medium heat and add the black sesame seeds. Toast them for 3–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they become golden brown and aromatic.
- Blend Sesame Milk: Transfer the toasted sesame seeds to a blender, add 2 cups of milk or your chosen plant-based alternative. Blend on high speed for 1–2 minutes until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
- Sweeten the Milk Tea: Taste the blended sesame milk and add sweetener if desired (such as honey, agave, or another sugar alternative). Blend again for 10–15 seconds to incorporate the sweetener evenly.
- Prepare Red Beans: Scoop the sweetened red beans into a serving glass, making sure they are well drained to avoid excess liquid.
- Assemble the Drink: Pour the prepared sesame milk over the red beans in the glass. Serve immediately for a warm and cozy drink, or chill as desired.
- Optional Chilling: For a refreshing cold version, place the drink in the refrigerator for 15–30 minutes or serve it over ice before enjoying.
Notes
- Use canned sweetened red beans for convenience, or make your own by simmering adzuki beans with sugar for a homemade touch.
- Adjust sweetener based on preference or dietary needs; plant-based milks often vary in natural sweetness.
- To enhance texture, you can lightly grind the toasted sesame seeds before blending.
- Serve immediately if you prefer a warm drink, or chill for a refreshing cold beverage.
- This recipe is versatile; substitute the milk with soy or coconut milk for different flavors.
