Description

These freezer-friendly Ham, Egg, and Cheese Bagel Bombs are a delicious and convenient breakfast option. Made with refrigerated pizza dough filled with fluffy scrambled eggs, savory diced ham, and melted shredded cheese, they are boiled briefly before baking to achieve a soft yet chewy bagel texture. Perfect for meal prepping, these bagel bombs can be frozen individually and reheated for a quick, satisfying breakfast or snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Dough

  • 1 package Refrigerated Pizza Dough

Filling

  • 8 whole Eggs
  • 1 cup Diced Ham
  • 1 cup Shredded Allegro Cheese
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste

Boiling & Topping

  • 1 tablespoon Honey (optional, for boiling water)
  • Bagel Seasoning, to taste (a mix of poppy seeds, sesame seeds, and garlic powder)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Dough: Thaw refrigerated pizza dough and divide into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let rise for 20 minutes to develop a fluffy texture.
  2. Cook Filling: In a mixing bowl, whisk together whole eggs with salt and pepper. Scramble eggs gently in a pan over medium heat until fluffy. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
  3. Prepare Boiling Water: Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add a splash of honey to the water to enhance the bagels’ rise and flavor.
  4. Assemble Bagel Bombs: Flatten each dough ball into a circle. Place a spoonful of scrambled eggs, diced ham, and shredded cheese in the center of each circle. Carefully pinch and seal the edges to fully encase the filling.
  5. Boil Bagel Bombs: Drop each filled bagel bomb into the boiling water for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Remove them carefully using a slotted spoon and allow excess water to drain.
  6. Bake: Arrange boiled bagel bombs on a lined baking sheet. Sprinkle generously with bagel seasoning. Bake in a preheated oven at 425°F (220°C) for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Cool and Store: Let the bagel bombs cool completely on a wire rack. Once cooled, wrap individually in plastic wrap or place in a freezer-safe bag for freezing.

Notes

  • For a lighter option, substitute whole eggs with egg whites.
  • Try turkey or chicken instead of ham for a leaner protein.
  • You can use any melting cheese such as cheddar or mozzarella if Allegro cheese is unavailable.
  • Ensure the dough is well sealed to avoid filling leaks during boiling and baking.
  • These bagel bombs freeze well and can be reheated in the oven or microwave for a quick meal.
