Ingredients
Scale
Dough
- 1 package Refrigerated Pizza Dough
Filling
- 8 whole Eggs
- 1 cup Diced Ham
- 1 cup Shredded Allegro Cheese
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
Boiling & Topping
- 1 tablespoon Honey (optional, for boiling water)
- Bagel Seasoning, to taste (a mix of poppy seeds, sesame seeds, and garlic powder)
Instructions
- Prepare Dough: Thaw refrigerated pizza dough and divide into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let rise for 20 minutes to develop a fluffy texture.
- Cook Filling: In a mixing bowl, whisk together whole eggs with salt and pepper. Scramble eggs gently in a pan over medium heat until fluffy. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
- Prepare Boiling Water: Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add a splash of honey to the water to enhance the bagels’ rise and flavor.
- Assemble Bagel Bombs: Flatten each dough ball into a circle. Place a spoonful of scrambled eggs, diced ham, and shredded cheese in the center of each circle. Carefully pinch and seal the edges to fully encase the filling.
- Boil Bagel Bombs: Drop each filled bagel bomb into the boiling water for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Remove them carefully using a slotted spoon and allow excess water to drain.
- Bake: Arrange boiled bagel bombs on a lined baking sheet. Sprinkle generously with bagel seasoning. Bake in a preheated oven at 425°F (220°C) for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Cool and Store: Let the bagel bombs cool completely on a wire rack. Once cooled, wrap individually in plastic wrap or place in a freezer-safe bag for freezing.
Notes
- For a lighter option, substitute whole eggs with egg whites.
- Try turkey or chicken instead of ham for a leaner protein.
- You can use any melting cheese such as cheddar or mozzarella if Allegro cheese is unavailable.
- Ensure the dough is well sealed to avoid filling leaks during boiling and baking.
- These bagel bombs freeze well and can be reheated in the oven or microwave for a quick meal.
