Ingredients
Scale
Chocolate Mixture
- ¼ cup salted butter
- ¾ cup creamy peanut butter
- 1 cup milk chocolate chips
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Cereal and Coating
- 9 cups rice Chex cereal
- 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
Halloween Mix-ins
- 1 cup candy corn
- ½ cup candy corn pumpkins
- ½ cup Reese’s peanut butter mini pumpkins
- 1 cup Reese’s pieces
Instructions
- Melt Chocolate Mixture: Combine the salted butter, peanut butter, and milk chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 45 seconds, then stir. Microwave for an additional 20 seconds or until the mixture is fully melted and smooth. Stir in the vanilla extract thoroughly.
- Coat Cereal: Place the rice Chex cereal in a large bowl. Pour the warm chocolate mixture over the cereal and gently stir to evenly coat all pieces without crushing them.
- Powder Sugar Coating: Divide the coated cereal mixture in half. Place half into a large gallon-sized Ziploc bag along with half the powdered sugar. Seal and shake well until the cereal is fully coated. Transfer to a large bowl. Repeat the process with the remaining cereal and powdered sugar.
- Add Halloween Candies: Gently fold in the candy corn, candy corn pumpkins, Reese’s peanut butter mini pumpkins, and Reese’s pieces into the powdered sugar-coated cereal mixture until evenly distributed.
- Set and Serve: Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Spread the mixture out in a single layer to prevent clumping. Let it rest for about 30 minutes to allow the coating to set before serving. Enjoy your festive Halloween Muddy Buddies!
Notes
- Ensure the cereal is gently stirred to avoid breaking the pieces.
- For a spookier touch, add festive sprinkles or colored sugar while folding in candies.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
- If peanut allergies are a concern, substitute peanut butter with almond butter or sunflower seed butter.
- Adjust candy quantity to your preference for sweetness and texture.
