Description

A revitalizing and immune-boosting homemade ginger shot packed with fresh ginger, turmeric, lemon, and a touch of natural sweetness. Perfect for a quick health boost, this energizing drink combines the anti-inflammatory properties of ginger and turmeric with the refreshing flavor of lemon and hydrating coconut water.

Ingredients

Scale

Spices and Roots

  • 4 oz (110g) fresh ginger
  • 1/2 tsp ground turmeric or 1 oz fresh turmeric
  • Pinch of black pepper

Liquids & Sweeteners

  • 2 medium lemons, juiced (about 55g juice)
  • 1 ยฝ cups (12 oz or 345g) coconut water
  • 1 tbsp (20g) honey or maple syrup (adjust to taste)

Seasonings

  • 1/4 tsp Celtic sea salt

Instructions

  1. Prep the ginger and lemon. Thoroughly wash the fresh ginger to remove any dirt or impurities; peeling is optional since the mixture will be strained later. Juice the lemons until you have approximately 55g of fresh lemon juice.
  2. Combine ingredients in blender. Add the fresh ginger, turmeric (either ground or fresh), lemon juice, coconut water, honey or maple syrup, Celtic sea salt, and a pinch of black pepper into a high-speed blender.
  3. Blend thoroughly. Start blending on a low speed and gradually increase to medium-high speed. Continue blending for about 2 minutes until the mixture is well combined and smooth.
  4. Strain the mixture. Place a nut milk bag or a fine mesh sieve over a bowl or wide-mouth jar, and gently strain the blended liquid to remove pulp and fibrous bits, yielding a smooth ginger shot.
  5. Store and serve. Pour the strained ginger shots into a glass jar and refrigerate. Consume within 1 week for optimal freshness. A standard serving size is 2 oz per shot.

Notes

  • Peeling the ginger is optional since the mixture will be strained.
  • Adjust the sweetness with honey or maple syrup according to your taste preference.
  • The shots should be stored refrigerated and consumed within 1 week.
  • Use a nut milk bag or fine mesh sieve to achieve the smoothest texture.
  • You can substitute ground turmeric with fresh turmeric if preferred, adjusting the quantity accordingly.
