Description

Hot Buttered Cheerios is a simple and comforting snack recipe featuring crispy Cheerios coated in melted butter with three delicious variations: plain, cinnamon sugar, and ranch. Perfect for a quick treat, this versatile recipe can be enjoyed warm as a sweet or savory snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Plain Hot Buttered Cheerios

  • โ…“ cup salted butter (sliced into pats)
  • 4 cups plain Cheerios cereal

Cinnamon Sugar Hot Buttered Cheerios

  • โ…“ cup salted butter (sliced into pats)
  • 4 cups plain Cheerios cereal
  • ยฝ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • ยผ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Ranch Hot Buttered Cheerios

  • โ…“ cup salted butter (sliced into pats)
  • 4 cups plain Cheerios cereal
  • 1 ounce package dry ranch dressing mix

Instructions

  1. Prepare butter: Add the sliced butter to a 12 inch nonstick skillet over medium heat. Stir occasionally with a wooden spoon or silicone spatula until the butter is completely melted. Remove the skillet from heat.
  2. Plain Hot Buttered Cheerios: Add the Cheerios to the skillet and stir to completely coat. Serve while warm.
  3. Cinnamon Sugar Hot Buttered Cheerios: After melting the butter as above, add the vanilla extract and stir until fully incorporated. Add the Cheerios and stir well to coat. Transfer the buttered Cheerios to a large mixing bowl (4-5 quarts). In a small bowl (3-4 cups), combine the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon, then sprinkle over the Cheerios. Stir until fully coated. Alternatively, seal the Cheerios and cinnamon sugar mixture in a large ziplock bag and shake to coat evenly. Serve warm.
  4. Ranch Hot Buttered Cheerios: Melt butter as instructed. Add Cheerios and stir to coat. Sprinkle dry ranch dressing mix over the Cheerios and stir thoroughly to coat. You may also place Cheerios and ranch mix in a large ziplock bag, seal tightly, and shake to combine. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Use salted butter for best flavor.
  • Serve the snack warm for optimal taste and texture.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days for best freshness.
  • The cinnamon sugar and ranch versions offer sweet and savory alternatives to the plain Hot Buttered Cheerios.
  • Use a nonstick skillet to prevent sticking and ease stirring.
