Description

This Hot Philly Cheesesteak Dip is a deliciously cheesy and zesty appetizer inspired by the classic Philly cheesesteak sandwich. Loaded with tender chopped beef, sautéed onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, and a blend of creamy cheeses baked to bubbly perfection, this dip is perfect for game days, parties, or casual gatherings. Serve warm with toasted baguette slices, crackers, or tortilla chips for a crowd-pleasing treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Vegetables & Beef

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small yellow onion, finely diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, finely diced
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pound thinly sliced beef sirloin or shaved steak, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Dairy & Condiments

  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup shredded provolone cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded white American cheese
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F to prepare for baking the dip.
  2. Sauté Vegetables: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onion, bell pepper, and mushrooms. Cook for 5 to 7 minutes until softened and lightly browned.
  3. Add Garlic: Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Cook Beef: Add the chopped beef, salt, and black pepper. Cook until the meat is browned and fully cooked through, about 4 to 5 minutes.
  5. Cool Mixture: Remove the skillet from heat and let the beef and vegetable mixture cool slightly.
  6. Mix Creamy Base: In a large mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, and Worcestershire sauce until smooth.
  7. Combine Ingredients: Stir the cooked beef and vegetable mixture into the creamy base along with half of the provolone, mozzarella, and white American cheese.
  8. Prepare for Baking: Spread the mixture evenly into a greased 9-inch baking dish. Top with the remaining cheeses.
  9. Bake: Bake for 18 to 22 minutes or until the dip is hot, bubbly, and the cheese on top is melted and lightly golden.
  10. Garnish and Serve: Garnish with chopped parsley if desired and serve warm with toasted baguette slices, crackers, or tortilla chips.

Notes

  • For extra spice, add sliced pickled jalapeños or a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes.
  • Substitute ground beef if shaved steak is not available.
  • This dip can be assembled ahead of time and refrigerated for up to 24 hours before baking.
