Description

Delicious and creamy Nutella truffles that combine rich chocolate, smooth Nutella, and a hint of vanilla. These bite-sized treats are coated in cocoa powder or your choice of toppings, perfect for a decadent snack or elegant dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

Truffle Base

  • 1 cup Nutella
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Coating

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • Optional: chopped hazelnuts, crushed cookies, or sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Heat the Cream: In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer. Avoid boiling to prevent cream from scalding.
  2. Melt the Chocolate: Place the chopped semi-sweet chocolate in a heatproof bowl. Pour the hot cream over the chocolate and let it sit for 1-2 minutes to soften. Stir gently until the chocolate melts completely and the mixture is smooth.
  3. Add Nutella and Flavorings: Stir in the Nutella, vanilla extract, and salt until the mixture is fully combined and smooth.
  4. Chill the Mixture: Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, until the mixture is firm enough to scoop and shape.
  5. Form the Truffles: Using a small cookie scoop or teaspoon, portion out the chilled mixture. Roll each portion between your palms to create smooth, round truffles.
  6. Coat the Truffles: Place the cocoa powder or your preferred coating in a shallow bowl. Roll each truffle evenly in the coating to cover the surface completely.
  7. Chill and Serve: Arrange the coated truffles on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to firm up before serving for best texture and flavor.

Notes

  • Ensure the cream is hot but not boiling to avoid seizing the chocolate.
  • For varied textures, experiment with coatings like chopped hazelnuts, crushed cookies, or colorful sprinkles.
  • Store truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • Bring truffles to room temperature briefly before serving for best flavor.
  • Use high-quality Nutella and chocolate for optimal taste.
