Description

Roadhouse Salmon is a flavorful baked salmon recipe featuring a sweet and savory glaze made from brown sugar, soy sauce, honey, and spices. This quick and easy meal delivers tender, flaky salmon fillets with a beautiful caramelized finish, perfect for a nutritious weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

Salmon

  • 4 salmon fillets (6 oz each)

Glaze

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika

Garnish

  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven and prepare baking sheet: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ease cleanup.
  2. Make the glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together brown sugar, soy sauce, melted butter, honey, garlic powder, black pepper, and paprika until you get a smooth, well-blended glaze.
  3. Prepare the salmon: Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels to help the glaze adhere better. Place the fillets on the prepared baking sheet and brush half of the glaze evenly over the top of each fillet.
  4. Bake salmon (first round): Bake the salmon for 8 minutes in the preheated oven. This initial bake starts cooking the fish and helps set the glaze.
  5. Add remaining glaze and finish baking: Remove the salmon from the oven, brush the remaining glaze over the fillets, then return to the oven and bake for an additional 8-10 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
  6. Rest and garnish: Let the salmon rest for 2 minutes after baking to allow juices to redistribute. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving for added color and freshness.

Notes

  • Ensure salmon fillets are evenly sized for uniform cooking.
  • You can substitute honey with maple syrup or agave nectar for a different sweetness profile.
  • If you prefer less sweetness, reduce brown sugar by half.
  • Use skin-on fillets if you like crispy skin; bake skin-side down.
  • Monitor closely during the final bake to avoid overcooking.
  • Serve with your favorite side dishes, such as roasted vegetables or a fresh salad.
