Description

These Roast Beef Sliders are a crowd-pleasing party favorite made with King’s Hawaiian sweet rolls layered with tender deli-sliced roast beef, provolone cheese, and a buttery, tangy sauce spiked with Dijon mustard, barbecue sauce, poppy seeds, and Worcestershire sauce. Baked until bubbly and golden, these sliders are perfect for game day, gatherings, or any casual celebration.

Ingredients

Scale

Sliders

  • 18 King’s Hawaiian brand sweet rolls (from two 12-count packages)
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 pounds deli sliced roast beef (no more than inch thick or sandwich sliced)
  • 10 slices non-smoked provolone cheese (approximately inch thick, from an 8-ounce package)

Sauce

  • ½ cup salted butter
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1½ tablespoons bottled barbecue sauce (Sweet Baby Ray’s Original used)
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the sliders.
  2. Prepare Rolls: Slice the King’s Hawaiian sweet rolls in half horizontally, separating the tops from the bottoms. Arrange all the bottom halves closely together in a 9×13-inch baking pan so they are touching. Set the tops aside.
  3. Add Mayonnaise: Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise evenly over each bottom roll in the baking pan to add flavor and moisture.
  4. Layer Roast Beef: Top each bottom roll with 1 to 2 slices of deli roast beef, folding the slices as needed to fit the rolls. This layering ensures easy pulling apart of sliders after baking.
  5. Add Cheese and Tops: Arrange the provolone cheese slices evenly over the roast beef, then place the roll tops back onto each slider. Gently press down to secure the layers and promote even heating.
  6. Make Sauce: In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Stir in Dijon mustard, barbecue sauce, poppy seeds, and Worcestershire sauce. Cook for 2–3 minutes until the sauce begins to boil, then remove from heat.
  7. Apply Sauce: Pour the warm sauce evenly over the assembled sliders in the baking dish. Use a pastry brush if desired to spread the poppy seeds evenly on top.
  8. Bake Covered: Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes to heat everything through and melt the cheese.
  9. Finish Baking: Remove the foil and bake uncovered for an additional 5–10 minutes until the slider tops are lightly browned and slightly crispy.
  10. Serve: Remove from oven and let sliders cool slightly before serving warm for an irresistible savory snack or meal.

Notes

  • Use thinly sliced roast beef (no more than ⅛ inch thick) for easy layering and better texture.
  • If you want spicier sliders, consider adding a layer of horseradish sauce instead of mayonnaise.
  • You can prepare the sliders ahead of time and refrigerate until ready to bake—just add a few extra minutes to baking time if cold from fridge.
  • Leftover sliders can be reheated covered in the oven at 350°F for 10–15 minutes or until warmed through.
  • For a lower sodium option, use reduced-sodium barbecue sauce and lower sodium roast beef slices.
