Ingredients
Scale
Pasta
- 4 ounces linguine or spaghetti (56 grams; enough for 2 people)
Seafood
- 8 scallops, thawed (if frozen)
- 8 shrimp, thawed and deveined
- 8 mussels, cleaned and beards removed
- 8 clams, cleaned
Sauce and Seasoning
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1.5 cups marinara pasta sauce
- 1/2 cup parsley, finely chopped
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Optional: pinch of red pepper flakes
- Optional: juice of 1/2 a lemon
- Optional: freshly grated parmigiano-reggiano
Instructions
- Cook the Pasta: In a large pot of boiling water, cook the pasta according to the package directions until al dente. Drain the pasta and set aside.
- Cook the Scallops: While the pasta cooks, heat olive oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. When the oil is hot, add the scallops and cook for 3-4 minutes per side until they become opaque. Remove scallops from the pan and place them on a clean plate.
- Cook the Shrimp: In the same pan, add more olive oil if needed, and cook the shrimp for 1 minute per side until pink and opaque. Remove shrimp and place them with the scallops.
- Prepare the Seafood Sauce: Pour the marinara sauce into the pan and bring it to a simmer. Add the mussels and clams, cover the pan, and cook for about 5 minutes until all the shells have opened. Discard any shells that remain closed.
- Combine Seafood and Pasta: Remove the pan from heat. Add the cooked shrimp and scallops back into the sauce, then stir in the cooked pasta and chopped parsley until everything is evenly combined.
- Serve and Garnish: Serve the pasta hot, garnished with a squeeze of lemon juice, freshly grated parmesan, and a pinch of red pepper flakes if desired. Enjoy immediately.
Notes
- Ensure seafood is fresh or properly thawed before cooking for best results.
- You can use any long pasta like spaghetti or linguine according to preference.
- Adjust salt and pepper according to taste, especially after adding the cheese.
- If you prefer a spicier dish, increase the red pepper flakes.
- Discard any mussels or clams that do not open during cooking to avoid foodborne illness.
