Ingredients
Scale
Beef Patties
- 1 1/2 pounds ground beef 80/20
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Toppings and Buns
- 4 slices fresh pineapple
- 4 slices provolone or Swiss cheese
- 4 brioche burger buns, split
- 4 lettuce leaves
- 4 slices tomato
- 1/4 cup red onion, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup teriyaki sauce
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat Grill: Preheat a grill or stovetop grill pan to medium-high heat to ensure it is hot and ready for cooking the burgers and pineapple slices evenly.
- Prepare Patties: In a large bowl, gently combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Form the mixture into four equal-sized patties, pressing a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing up during cooking.
- Prepare Pineapple: Lightly brush the pineapple slices with olive oil to aid caramelization and prevent sticking on the grill.
- Grill Burgers: Place the patties on the grill and cook for 4 to 5 minutes per side, or until they reach your preferred level of doneness. During the last minute of cooking, add a slice of cheese on top of each patty and let it melt.
- Grill Pineapple: Grill the pineapple slices for 2 to 3 minutes per side, until they develop a caramelized, lightly charred exterior.
- Toast Buns: Place the brioche buns cut side down on the grill and toast until lightly golden and slightly crisp.
- Assemble Burgers: Spread a spoonful of teriyaki sauce on the bottom half of each bun. Layer lettuce, tomato, and red onion slices on top. Place the cheeseburger patty over the vegetables, then top with a grilled pineapple slice. Finish with the top bun.
- Serve: Serve the tropical burgers immediately for best flavor and texture.
Notes
- Substitute ground turkey for a lighter option with less fat.
- For extra flavor, mix a tablespoon of finely chopped fresh cilantro into the burger mixture before shaping.
- Add a slice of crispy bacon for a sweet and savory twist.
