Instructions

  1. Make the Cherry Syrup: In a small saucepan, combine the pitted cherries, water, and sugar over medium heat. Stir occasionally and cook for 5–7 minutes until the cherries soften and the mixture thickens into a syrup. Remove from heat, stir in the vanilla extract, and allow it to cool slightly. Optionally strain to remove solids for a smooth syrup.
  2. Brew the Espresso: Prepare 1 shot of espresso or brew 1/2 cup of strong coffee using your preferred method, such as an espresso machine, stovetop espresso maker, or a regular coffee maker with a strong brew setting.
  3. Froth the Milk: Warm the milk of your choice until hot but not boiling. Froth the milk using a milk frother for a creamy texture, or heat it on the stovetop or microwave and whisk vigorously to produce foam.
  4. Assemble the Latte: Add 1–2 tablespoons of cherry syrup into a glass or mug, adjusting sweetness to taste. Pour the hot espresso or coffee over the syrup and stir gently to combine. Add the frothed milk on top and stir once more. For an iced latte, pour the mixture over a glass filled with ice cubes.
