Description

Enjoy a vibrant and nourishing Winter Detox Berry and Beet Smoothie, packed with roasted beets, antioxidant-rich berries, and creamy Greek yogurt. This quick and delicious smoothie is perfect for a glowing complexion and a refreshing start to your day or a revitalizing snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Base Ingredients

  • ½ cup roasted beet cubes (about 1 small beet)
  • 1 cup frozen mixed berries (strawberry & raspberry blend)
  • ½ medium banana, previously frozen
  • 1 cm fresh ginger, peeled and grated

Liquids & Creaminess

  • 1 cup 100 % orange juice, divided
  • ½ cup plain Greek yogurt (2 % fat)
  • ¼ cup cold water (only if needed for blending)

Add-Ins & Flavor Enhancers

  • 1 Tbsp almond butter
  • 1 Tbsp ground flaxseed
  • 1 tsp pure maple syrup (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep the flax: Add the ground flaxseed and ¼ cup of orange juice to the blender, allowing it to soak for 2 minutes to help it soften and blend smoothly.
  2. Add remaining liquids: Pour in the rest of the orange juice, the Greek yogurt, almond butter, and maple syrup if using, creating a creamy and nutritious liquid base.
  3. Top with frozen ingredients: Add the roasted beet cubes, frozen mixed berries, frozen banana, and freshly grated ginger on top of the liquid in the blender.
  4. Blend: Start blending on low speed for 15 seconds, then increase to high for 45 seconds or until the smoothie is smooth and has a bright magenta color. If the blender struggles or the mixture is too thick, add cold water gradually to ease blending.
  5. Taste & tweak: Sample the smoothie and adjust for sweetness or brightness by adding extra maple syrup or a squeeze of lime juice to balance the flavors according to your preference.
  6. Serve: Pour the smoothie into a chilled glass, optionally garnish with a few frozen berries, and enjoy immediately to benefit from its peak nutritional value and refreshing glow.

Notes

  • Roasting the beets beforehand enhances their natural sweetness and earthiness.
  • Freezing the banana adds natural creaminess without the need for ice.
  • Ground flaxseed boosts fiber and omega-3 content; soaking it improves texture.
  • Maple syrup is optional; adjust sweetness to your taste or omit for less sugar.
  • For a thinner smoothie, add cold water gradually while blending.
  • Consume immediately for optimal freshness and nutrient absorption.
